Monitoring

A month after construction, a Supervisor from Proyecto Mirador returns to the village and visits individual homes to insure that the Dos por Tres stove is being used and maintained properly. They are now using hand held smart phones and computers to record the data they collect that is quickly compiled in the cloud and can be viewed by all particpants in the organization in real time.

This visit reinforces initial training that can be ignored or easily forgotten in the excitement of having the new stove built in their home. Records are kept of wood use and any problems encountered with operation of the stove.

The electronic monitoring system used by Proyecto Mirador was created by TACT L3C, that provides business and technology consulting services for the social impact sector.  The Salesforce.com platform that TACT employed as the basis for the system is scalable and accessible globally, easy and efficient to configure and deploy, provides access to the cloud within its subscription and provides dual language functionality.

We use maps generated with Digital Globe Global Basemap software to pinpoint exact locations of the households where stoves have been constructed. Thus it is much easier to find homes with Dos por Tres stoves installed for our multiple follow up visits.  Through the Global BaseMap subscription software program PM is able to track installations and manage workflow using interactive, high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery that covers the entire project area. This integrated system is available all over the world, provides the most accurate and relevant imagery available, allows our project to successfully evolve and expand and helps the UN-accredited auditors verify that the co-benefits claimed within this project are being effectively carried out.  Maps are available from the office or the field.

Here a Proyecto Mirador stove builder reinforces the steps of maintenance for the Dos por Tres stove during a follow-up visit with a beneficiary not once, but twice.
